Manage the Property/Maintenance services of a growing, public, secondary school in Melbourne's east.
**Your new company**
Our client is a growing multi-campus, co-educational secondary school based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. It comprises of performing arts centre, sports precinct with basketball courts, fitness centre, cafe, swimming facilities and multiple learning centres.
**Your new role**
Reporting to the school Business Manager, you will be required to:
- Support major functions/events of the school, including Open Day and other events as designated by the Business Manager and/ or the Principal.
- Assist with emergency management, OH&S and evacuation procedures as directed
- Familiarise, maintain and manage building monitor systems including Air Conditioning, Fire Control Panel and Security
- Management of cleaning, caretaking, security, maintenance and grounds staff as well as external contractors and negotiation of service level agreements with ongoing contract management
- Be 'hands on' when required in assisting the Maintenance/Grounds staff in performing maintenance tasks and assist in the shifting of furniture including transporting of items, assembly setups etc.
- Manage waste management systems including recycling, sanitary and dangerous substances
- Develop and implement reactive maintenance processes and preventative maintenance schedules
- Management of concurrent capital works and annual maintenance budgets
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of on-site operations management, across cleaning, security, maintenance, projects and grounds up-keep
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, operate effectively under pressure and prioritise work appropriately, whilst managing and developing an internal team
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects or regularly scheduled works effectively and efficiently to deliver desired results on time on budget
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to relate to all sections of the school community
- Ability to manage, maintain and monitor a variety of records and logs, and act on exceptions in an appropriate and timely manner
- Sound working knowledge of legislative requirements of OH&S, building regulations and the Essential Services Act
- Ability to read and understand technical site/ building drawings and oversee outsourced project works
- A hands-on approach with a trade background is preferred but not essential
**What you'll get in return**
- Full-time, permanent, on-site position, Mon - Fri with occasional weekend/after-hours and time in lieu
