PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Working in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, the primary objective of the Executive Officer – Central Australia is to support the Chamber of Commerce NT in fulfilling its mission in Central Australia to serve members through the delivery of high-quality services aligned with the Chamber's strategic objectives.
This role will be consistently reflecting the values and brand of the Chamber in all interactions with members, stakeholders, and the broader community, while fostering a high-performing, values-driven team culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES Membership Growth and Retention - Actively promote Chamber membership by identifying and recruiting prospective members, with a strong focus on retaining existing members through ongoing engagement and value delivery.
Office Leadership and Operations - Manage the operations of the Chamber's Central Australian office, including strategic planning, financial oversight, people management, and fostering a high-performance team culture.
Regional Executive Committee Engagement - Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with the Chairs of the Central Australian and Barkly Executive Committees.
Secretariat and Governance Support - Provide high-quality secretariat support to the Central Australian and Barkly Executive Committees, ensuring meetings are conducted in line with the Chamber's constitution, and that agendas, minutes, and reports are prepared and distributed accurately and on time.
Member Engagement, Support and Services - Serve as a key point of contact for members, connecting them with relevant Chamber services and support. Ensuring the team is collaborating with all other staff across the Chamber network by maintaining consistent member contact, support and connection to services.
Event Management - Lead the delivery of Centralian Australian Chamber events, including networking functions, forums, workshops and stakeholder meetings. Work closely with the internal event staff, sponsors, and external suppliers to ensure smooth execution and strong engagement outcomes. Ensure all events align with the Chamber's strategic objectives, meet member and stakeholder expectations, and are delivered professionally, on time and within budget.
Strategic and Advocacy Functions (in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer):
Provide strategic insights to inform policy development and advocacy priorities.
Represent Chamber members in interactions with senior stakeholders across Central Australia and on relevant committees.
Attend and represent the Chamber at public events, forums, and functions.
Maintain a strategic, apolitical awareness of the business community's views and accurately reflect these in advocacy efforts.
Identify, assess, and pursue opportunities to expand and enhance member services.
Essential Qualifications & Experience Strong governance skills and secretariat experience to support Regional Executive Committees and other advisory bodies
Maintain the Chamber principle of Member First in all activities and communications
Experience and passion for networking, marketing and/or business development
Proven management expertise, particularly in relation to financial management and people management
A working understanding of the unique needs and opportunities of member businesses across Central Australia
First class communication skills, including an ability to represent the Chamber in public forums and to the media, where required
Possess a current Driver's Licence

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Significant experience in member, client or customer-facing roles with outstanding customer service skills
Highly organised and systematic
Strong planning and time management skills
Able to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
Exceptional attention to detail
Advanced in Microsoft suite of products including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases and formatting of complex documents
Strong people skills and excellent internal and external stakeholder relationship
People leadership and management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience leading and working as part of a team
Experience of meeting challenging deadlines and demonstrated problem solving ability
