Your new role
As a Fitter, you will work as part of a close-knit shutdown team at NRG Gladstone, supporting a planned boiler outage. The role involves hands-on mechanical maintenance tasks across strip‐down, inspection, repair, and recommissioning phases of critical plant and power generation equipment. You'll operate within a heavy industrial environment, following strict safety systems, procedures, and schedules to ensure the shutdown is delivered safely, efficiently, and to required standards. Teamwork, reliability, and a strong safety focus are essential to success in this outage‐based role.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter in a heavy industrial or shutdown environment
* Strong ability to work effectively within a team‐based outage setting, with clear communication skills
* Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, procedures, and personal accountability
* Trade qualification: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
* Current tickets including:
o Enter & Work in Confined Spaces (RIIWHS202E)
o Working at Heights (RIIWHS204E - current within 3 years)
o Construction White Card
o Valve overhaul experience would be an advantage
* Reliable, safety‐focused, and comfortable working in a fast‐paced outage environment
* Ability to DIDO & complete the whole shutdown
* 2 x Previous References
What you'll get in return
You'll secure a casual DIDO outage role at Callide Power Station in Biloela, commencing mid‐May and running through to late June. The position offers a Monday to Saturday roster with both day and night shifts, working 11‐hour shifts throughout the outage period. You'll receive EBA rates with overtime penalties calculated from the base rate, plus a site allowance. You'll be part of a supportive team delivering Downer's Callide outage, with either LAHA or accommodation provided for distant workers and potential opportunities for future project and outage work.
