The Team
The Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the state's major clinical teaching hospital and research centre. The team provides comprehensive medical imaging services to Southern Tasmania and statewide in some specialties. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Role Overview
This role provides effective and efficient radiographic assistance to Radiographers in Medical Imaging. Under the direction of the radiographers enhance the capacity to maintain an efficient and effective daily workflow in Medical Imaging, maximising the use of available resources in the Medical Imaging Department.
Responsibilities
* Provide patient imaging services in general X‑ray and the specialist imaging areas of CT, MRI and Ultrasound.
* Assist in operating the Radiology Information System (RIS) and the Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS).
* Communicate clearly and function as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a caring approach towards patients, relatives, carers and friends.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of practices, equipment and procedures relating to patient imaging services in general X‑ray and specialist imaging areas of CT, MRI and Ultrasound.
* Competency in the use of computers and an ability to learn new applications including RIS and PACS.
* Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a caring approach towards patients and their relatives, carers and friends.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months. For a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‑time, part‑time and casual vacancies.
Salary
$67,193 to $72,126 pro rata per annum. 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Plus 25% casual loading – equivalent to $42.34 to $45.45 per hour. Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
Eligibility
* Completed or currently undertaking an undergraduate course in Medical Imaging Science which is accredited by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
