The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the Southwest, Great South, Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of services including GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling, NDIS and community host various programs. About the role
The Data Analyst is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of data services in alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and regulatory standards. This role involves ensuring data accuracy, implementing a robust data management framework, and generating actionable insights to support informed decision-making. The position requires monitoring performance metrics, executing data queries, and collaborating with internal teams to drive continuous improvement. Proficiency in SQL and statistical analysis is essential for effective database interrogation and data-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, review, and provision of efficient data analysis services, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, regulations, and SWAMS’ strategic objectives.
- Analyse and validate data from multiple systems and sources to maintain accuracy and integrity.
- Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive data management system, including indicators, metrics, and data sources tailored to SWAMS.
- Extract, interpret, and analyse data to meet contractual requirements, applying business analytics methodologies to deliver insights that enhance performance.
- Provide data-driven solutions to address organizational challenges and gaps.
- Embed Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices across all systems and processes.
Essential Criteria
- Comprehensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of data management and analytics, including experience in Power BI, SQL, Python, and SharePoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to undertake stakeholder consultation, maintain and build strong working relationships, and negotiate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement data cleansing, validation, extraction, translation, loading, and reconciliation.
- Demonstrate attention to detail in data analysis, ensuring accuracy and precision in data interpretation and reporting.
- Showcase a strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify and address data issues effectively, proposing creative solutions to enhance data quality.
- Possess strong time management skills, efficiently prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members and cross-functional teams, actively participating in knowledge-sharing activities and contributing to a positive team culture.
- Show a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of data analytics, staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
Desirable Criteria
- A certificate or tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, ICT Management, Software Engineering or similar field.
- Experience working in the health industry
- Knowledge and expertise in the use of clinical database system.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of data analytics and management.
