The Project Manager – Technology & Digital reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer and is accountable for the consistent, governed delivery of projects across the Technology & Digital portfolio, as well as selected cross‐functional business initiatives.
The role owns the project delivery framework and governance model for Technology & Digital, ensuring projects are planned, managed, and reported in a manner appropriate to their nature, risk, and complexity. This includes Agile delivery models (such as sprints and scrums) for software and product development, and waterfall‐based approaches for infrastructure, platform, security, and compliance‐driven initiatives.
While the Project Manager does not have line management responsibility for delivery team members, they have authority to define delivery standards, establish project controls, and hold contributors accountable to agreed milestones, governance requirements, and outcomes, under the direction of the CTO.
Role Purpose
To enable predictable, transparent, and effective delivery of Technology & Digital projects by providing consistent project governance, delivery leadership, and stakeholder coordination across the portfolio.
Applies to all projects sponsored or delivered through Technology & Digital.
Covers both technology‐led and business‐led initiatives where Technology & Digital is accountable for delivery.
Excludes people management and technical solution ownership, which remain with functional leads.
Project Management Governance & Authority
Define, implement, and maintain the Technology & Digital project management governance framework, endorsed by the Chief Technology Officer.
Establish delivery standards, lifecycle models, templates, and reporting expectations for all projects.
Determine and apply the appropriate delivery methodology (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) based on project characteristics.
Ensure projects meet agreed governance requirements before progressing through key delivery stages.
Maintain an integrated view of the Technology & Digital project portfolio, including dependencies, capacity constraints, and delivery risk.
Authority
The Project Manager has authority to require compliance with agreed project governance standards.
Escalates delivery risks, resourcing constraints, and material deviations to the CTO.
Recommends prioritisation, sequencing, and delivery trade‐offs to support portfolio outcomes.
Agile & Software Development Delivery
Enable and support Agile delivery practices for software and digital product initiatives.
Facilitate sprint‐based delivery rhythms, including planning, review, and retrospectives, where required.
Ensure Agile delivery is appropriately governed, visible, and aligned to business priorities.
Work in partnership with technical leads and product owners, without overriding technical or architectural decisions.
Infrastructure & Compliance Projects
Lead delivery of infrastructure, platform, and security/compliance initiatives using waterfall or stage‐gated approaches.
Define project phases, milestones, and approval points appropriate to risk, regulatory, or operational impact.
Ensure documentation, testing, and change management requirements are met before go‐live.
Coordinate with technical owners and external vendors to manage dependencies and delivery timelines.
Relationship to the Chief Technology Officer
Operates under the strategic direction of the Chief Technology Officer.
Provides the CTO with a consolidated view of project health, risks, dependencies, and delivery confidence.
Supports the CTO in prioritisation decisions across competing initiatives.
Acts as the CTO's delegate for day‐to‐day project delivery governance.
This role is:

An enabler of delivery across Technology & Digital and the wider business.
Requirements
* 5+ years demonstrated experience implementing or operating project governance frameworks
* Experience working across Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
* Strong stakeholder management experience at senior leadership level
* PRINCE2 or Agile Certifications highly desirable
