Staff / Lead Data Engineer (AWS Cloud)
As a Staff Data Engineer with expertise in data engineering, software development and a passion for building data‑driven solutions, you will work at the forefront of AWS Cloud, AI, and data warehouse technologies. You will be part of a team that goes above and beyond to improve the standard of digital banking, using the latest tech to solve our customers' most complex data‑centric problems. Your role is within the Data Provisioning and Enrichment team, supporting Finance, Risk and Treasury businesses, and contributing to the Group's strategy of building tomorrow's bank today with a focus on trust, resilience and capital generation.
You will be part of the Data Provisioning and Enrichment Crew, which is responsible for:
* Designing and delivering an integrated Corporate Services data platform providing a single source of truth for timely and accurate data.
* Delivery of Risk, Treasury and Finance data platform outcomes.
* Overseeing the delivery of all data outcomes to support Finance, Risk and Treasury.
We are interested in hearing from people who:
* Have built or worked on building out data warehouses or data lakes.
* Are strong in designing and delivering robust solutions.
* Are familiar with the full software development lifecycle with a focus on data ingestion, data transformation pipelines, data integration and visualisation.
* Understand data profiling, basics of numerical statistics and data quality calculations.
* Have experience in handling large‑scale data processing and analytics.
* Can provide code quality control through peer programming, code review and automated pipeline release management.
* Can coach junior engineers and share knowledge to uplift and improve software development practices.
Technical Skills
* Demonstrated expertise in solution design and discovery, with advanced skills in AWS and ETL processes.
* Good understanding of overall DevSecOps.
* Proficient in languages such as Python and SQL.
* Experience in S3, RDS, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, SageMaker, Bedrock, AmazonQ, Kendra, Neptune and other Amazon data and AI services.
* Certified in relevant AWS Associate or Professional certifications (e.g., Data Engineering, AI, Machine Learning).
* Knowledge of data architecture (e.g., Data Vault 2.0). Understanding how AI can be used to solve real‑world problems through data pipelines and machine learning lifecycle management.
* Experience building scalable and efficient data pipelines that support AI model training and inference.
