Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and construction equipment.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy commercial vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
* Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using computerized diagnostic equipment and analytical skills.
* Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
* Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to minimize vehicle downtime and extend equipment life.
* Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems.
* Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed.
* Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
* Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Requirements
* Fundamental Skills:
* Proficient knowledge of the mechanical operation and maintenance of a range of vehicles, plant, and equipment inclusive of Garbage Compactors and road Sweeping trucks.
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle repair and maintenance.
* Ability to analyze, diagnose, and determine solutions to problems relating to plant and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
* Ability to utilize and operate computer-based maintenance software to manage maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis.
* Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
* Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
* Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Strong communication skills to interact with team members and customers.
Qualifications & Certifications
* Affiliated Qualifications:
* Post trade qualifications (Heavy Commercial Motor Mechanic), garbage compactor technology or a related discipline/s, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
* Heavy rigid endorsement.
* Valid driver's license; heavy vehicle driver's license preferred.
