**THE ROLE**
Due to continuous company expansion and category growth they are seeking a talented Protein expert or Commodity / Meat Trader to join their buying team in Sydney and contribute to the overall success of their business.
As Protein Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing, promotional and product maintenance within the assigned categories (meat, seafood and smallgoods). This includes financial performance while working with inbound supply and demand teams to have continuous supply of product to the store network.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Sourcing highest quality product: 'have a crack' with an emphasis to build new categories & bring new products to market
- Supplier Management: 'own it' with commercial negotiations & sourcing new supply & revitalise range
- Pricing & Promotional Planning: number crunch & then go on your 'own creative adventure'.
- Operational: get out on the floor at 'coach it' with instore visits
- Communication with stakeholders - no one works in a bubble here
- Sustainable Sourcing - good for the environment and good for us

**KEY REQUIREMENTS**
- A passion for food
- 3 - 5 years' experience in retail buying, commodity trading or a similar role
- Sound understanding of supply & demand forecasting
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail & strong decision-making skills
- Able to work within a fast-paced environment
- Want to work with a dynamic and friendly team
