Our Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs are safe havens built on compassion, resilience, and hope. As a Residential Care Worker, you'll be at the heart of this mission. Your role will be hands-on and deeply rewarding, with no two days being the same. From helping with cooking and keeping the home clean and safe, to doing school drop-offs, writing case notes, and responding to incidents, you’ll be supporting every part of daily life. Most importantly, you'll provide genuine care and emotional support to children and young people to rebuild their lives and believe in brighter futures. You'll be part of a passionate, close-knit team that shows up with empathy, courage, and commitment. We are looking for casual and full-time Residential Care Workers in Bendigo; we have a range of rosters available, including active night positions. Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on care and support with daily living activities where needed (cooking, cleanliness, safety).
- Assist with school drop-offs and daily routines.
- Write and maintain case notes and other required documentation.
- Respond to incidents and support children and young people during challenging situations.
- Offer genuine care and emotional support to help rebuild lives and foster brighter futures.
- Collaborate with a passionate, empathetic team to ensure a secure and supportive environment.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications).
- A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing.
- Demonstrated empathy for young people in our care in an open-minded and non-judgmental manner.
- Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation, including the ability to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.

You Must Have
- Valid and current Driver’s Licence.
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop).
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check.
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk-assessed / client-facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
