About the Position
We seek an experienced Youth Worker to work with young people dealing with alcohol and substance dependence in their recovery journey. As part of our dedicated team, you'll contribute to a supportive environment ensuring each young person receives guidance and care they need in a 24-hour residential setting.
The salary is according to SCHADS Level 3 - Casual position working 7.6 hour shifts across 24 hours.
This role is based in Townsville.
Key Responsibilities
* Foster Positive Relationships: Build respectful and supportive relationships with young people.
* Life Skills Coaching: Provide guidance in key areas such as health, personal hygiene, budgeting, home maintenance, and healthy relationships.
* Youth-Driven Programs: Ensure young people's input is central by conducting exit interviews and co-facilitating program meetings.
* Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and monitor the implementation of support plans following policies and procedures.
* Maintain Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including incident reports, daybooks, and communication logs.

Required Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant Certificates: A Certificate IV or higher in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Work, or a related field.
* Experience Working with Diverse Groups: Experience working with young people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
* Knowledge and Understanding: Understanding of alcohol and substance dependence, mental health, and disabilities (desirable).
* Crisis Intervention Skills: Strong ability to handle crises and conflict resolution with empathy and professionalism.
* Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and data collection.
Additional Requirements
* A valid Driver's Licence.
* A Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
* A First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
