Role Overview
My client who specialises in BCA consulting, DDA/accessibility compliance, and building certification services across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, health, and government projects.
The Queensland State Manager will lead and grow the Queensland operations, driving project delivery excellence, team development, and client relationships across the region. This role combines strategic leadership, operational management, and technical expertise to ensure the business continues its strong trajectory in the QLD market.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
* Lead the establishment and growth of Queensland operations, ensuring alignment with national business objectives.
* Oversee day-to-day operations, project delivery, and financial performance for the region.
* Mentor and support team members to develop a high-performance, values-driven culture.
* Maintain compliance with company standards, relevant legislation, and client expectations.
* Contribute to the development of team knowledge, culture, and technical excellence.
Client & Business Development:
* Build and strengthen relationships with clients, including builders, developers, project managers, architects, and government stakeholders within the Queensland market.
* Identify and pursue new opportunities, leading proposals, bids, and presentations.
* Represent at industry events, forums, and client meetings to enhance visibility and reputation.
* Technical & Project Oversight:
* Provide senior oversight and technical input
* Ensure projects meet standards for quality, timeliness, and commercial performance.
* Review technical reports and provide direction to ensure consistency and technical rigour across deliverables.
* Strong understanding of QLD legislation
Financial & Strategic Management:
* Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance reports.
* Oversee project profitability and effective resource allocation.
* Contribute to national business planning, operational efficiency, and service innovation initiatives.
Skills & Experience /Qualifications:
* Degree in Building, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* Current QBCC Building Certifier Level 1 licence - essential.
* Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, AIQS, Engineers Australia, AIB) - desirable.
* Strong technical understanding of the Building Code of Australia
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in building consultancy, engineering, or construction management.
* Demonstrated success in leadership, business operations, and team management.
* Proven capability to establish or expand a regional presence.
* Experience working with government – desirable
* Prior experience establishing or scaling a state or regional business unit.
