Downer's Maintenance & ITS business is proud to be expanding its footprint across South Australia, delivering vital road and asset maintenance and construction services across the Barossa, Riverland and South East Regions, covering approximately 5,600 km of sealed road network. We are seeking an experienced Quality & Continuous Improvement Lead to join our team in Walkley Heights. In this role, you will play an integral role in upskilling the operational teams and quality communities in The Downer Standards (TDS), driving continuous improvement and supporting the business and projects with effective implementation of quality systems.
Key responsibilities
* Drive the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, Downer's Quality Principles, and client requirements.
* Conduct statewide audits, inspections, and compliance checks to ensure system integrity and operational excellence.
* Lead and mentor a small team to embed a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.
* Champion Zero Harm by integrating safety, environmental, and quality principles into all processes.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors, acting as the primary contact for quality and improvement matters.
* Identify and implement process improvements that reduce rework and enhance efficiency.
* Promote innovation through adoption of new technologies and best practices in quality management.
What you'll bring
* Proven experience in quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent) and auditing processes.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop team capability.
* Expertise in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma desirable).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to influence and drive quality outcomes.
* Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven reporting and trend analysis.
* Qualifications in Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) preferred.
* Ability to travel and work hands-on with teams.
