Ballarat Motor Holdings is a multi-franchise dealership representing a suite of leading automotive brands. We are seeking a highly motivated Workshop Controller to join our Service Department and play a pivotal role in driving productivity, efficiency, and quality across our busy workshop.
About the Role
As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for the professional scheduling of workflow through the Service Department. You’ll ensure that Automotive Technicians deliver quality workmanship efficiently, while liaising closely with Service Advisors and the Service Manager.
This role is critical to achieving daily benchmark KPIs:
- Productivity: 95%
- Efficiency: 105%
You will lead by example, ensuring repairs are completed “Right First Time” and that the workshop operates at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and allocate work based on Technician skills and capacity.
- Drive efficiency and productivity across the workshop team.
- Provide clear communication on job progress to Advisors, Service Manager, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor Technician performance, time clock audits, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support management with appraisals and departmental requests.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and uphold dealership standards.
- Maximise profitability and efficiency of the Service Department.
- Participate in ongoing training and development.
Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Qualified Motor Vehicle Technician background.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and product understanding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive mindset with process improvement focus.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to work in a team setting.
- High-level interpersonal skills to train, coach, and lead a large team.
- Punctuality, attention to detail, and consistency in demeanour.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Current Victorian manual driver’s licence (essential).
