Overview

The advertising period of this vacancy has been extended. This is for a Permanent or Fixed Term Full Time appointment at various hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Mental Health and CADS team in Geraldton in the Midwest.

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain high quality standards of patient care by leadership, delivery of care and role modelling in accordance with policies and procedures. Act as a clinical resource to staff across the hospital. Provide expert clinical assessment, screening, follow-up and care as required.

Requirements / Qualifications

- Extensive knowledge and experience of mental health disorders and provision of evidence-based treatment in acute and community settings.
- Significant experience in crisis intervention and the prioritising, and management of psychiatric and non-psychiatric emergencies in complex situations.
- Knowledge and skills in the implementation of the WA Mental Health Act and legislation affecting clinical practice.
- Highly developed communication skills including computer literacy.
- Highly developed negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and use effective communication and interpersonal skills.

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Midwest health region covers more than 470,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with population concentrated along the coast.
