Rural Pathways Program - Junior Feedlot and Junior Farm Hand
Pathways Overview: Thomas Foods International (TFI) is committed to nurturing the next generation of Australian agricultural leaders through our Rural Pathways Program. This 12-month initiative is designed for recent school leavers to gain hands-on experience with TFI Rural properties or the Southern Cross Feedlot, equipping participants with skills and knowledge to thrive in the agricultural industry.
Rural Program
TFI Rural spans more than 22,000 hectares across the upper and lower southeast of South Australia. Operations include prime lamb production, cattle breeding and trading, centre pivot irrigation, and fodder production. Participants will gain experience in general farm duties and work health and safety requirements.
Southern Cross Feedlot (SCF) Program
SCF is an industry-leading and award-winning feedlot located in Tintinara, South Australia. With a 27,000 standard cattle unit capacity, SCF is a forward-thinking facility that embraces technology, research and development, and best-practice animal welfare. Participants will engage with livestock, feedmill, administration, maintenance, and machinery operation.
Pathways overview
- Duration: 12-month, fixed-term position, starting early 2026.
- Comprehensive Induction: structured induction at the iconic Mt Schanck Station.
- Industry Events: engagement with the agricultural community at SA Heifer Expo and SA Sheep Expo for networking and exposure.
- Knowledge: insights and hands-on experience in agricultural operations.
- Training & Upskilling: access to internal and external training opportunities.
- Development Tour: curated tour to expand knowledge across different agricultural industries.
- Team Setting: work with a skilled, close-knit team.
- Remuneration: package includes accommodation.
