About the Role

As an Asset Management Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising the shire’s diverse asset portfolio. Your expertise will ensure the efficient delivery and maintenance of critical infrastructure, supporting the shire’s growth and community needs.

This role is significant in ensuring the effective management, maintenance, and financial oversight of the infrastructure assets, including roads, drainage, footpaths, parks, gardens, equipment, and street furniture. If you have a passion for asset management, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to excellence, this role could be for you.

Key Responsibilities

- Asset management plan for road, drainage, footpaths, parks & garden, equipment, street furniture bins
- Condition assessment of roads and assets
- Assist with development of asset management plan reviews
- Input into long term financial plans – assets, depreciation, values
- Liaise with finance to ensure assets are in the general ledger, financial reporting and annual financials
- Works schedules for maintenance of assets e.g. roads, drainage
- High level computer literacy and communications
- Ability to meet deadlines and resolve problems around data
- Coordinate, review, and update Asset Management Plans (AMPs), including Action Plans, ensuring proper document management and storage in line with Shire policies.
- Monitor and report on the progress of AMP Action Plan implementation.
- Assess and report on resource requirements for implementing Action Plans across departments.
- Monitor service levels and operational risk management across all AMPs.
- Support the development and implementation of work programs and financial plans.
- Review and manage Demand Management strategies within AMPs.
- Develop and formalise asset management policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Selection Criteria

- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, asset management, building, or equivalent experience in a trade/construction workplace demonstrating comparable skills and knowledge.
- Strong understanding of asset management practices, financial analysis, estimating techniques, forward planning, and customer service delivery.
- Knowledge of tender preparation, contract administration, and Local Government statutory requirements.
- Experience in contractor management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Current WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
- Road asset management in a remote environment, design, construction or maintenance
- Project management
- Road reporting with Main Roads and Disaster Relief Funding Roads

Employment Requirements

- This is a Regional Full Time Based
- 100-point ID check, recent National Police Clearance.
- Willing to undertake a Pre-employment medical.
- Valid ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence (WA).
- Must have full Australian working rights
