Good engineering is not just about whether the circuit works.
It's about how the product performs in the real world. How it is tested. How it is built. How it meets compliance. How it holds up once it leaves the building.
That's where this NPD Project Engineer role with Chamberlain sits.
You'll be part of a local Somersby engineering team, backed by a global leader in intelligent access, working on products used across residential, commercial and industrial environments.
Think garage door openers, gate operators, commercial access systems and smart connected technology.
This is not a narrow electronics role where you only touch one small piece of the process.
You'll work across the full lifecycle of physical products, from concept and design through to testing, debugging, compliance, supplier engagement, manufacturing and continuous improvement.
You'll be close to the product, close to the technical decisions and close to the people helping bring it all to life.
And that's what makes it interesting.
You'll have global backing, a close-knit local team, hybrid working, and the chance to work on products where electronics, controls, mechanical systems and real-world performance all come together.
If you like engineering that actually turns into something tangible, this is worth a look.
Opportunities in this team don't come up often, so we're pleased to be recruiting for two roles as the team evolves to meet new challenges.
As the NPD Project Engineer, you'll work across new and existing product development, with a focus on electronic and electrical systems.
Some days you could be reviewing electronic design concepts or working through technical requirements with external electronics teams.
Other days, you might be supporting testing and debugging, managing supplier conversations, reviewing compliance requirements or helping move products through manufacturing.
There's also a strong project ownership piece here.
You'll help manage NPD deliverables, support sustaining projects and work closely with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, service and external partners to turn product requirements into practical engineering outcomes.
It's technical, but it's also practical.
You'll be thinking about how the product works, how it is tested, how it is built, how it performs in market and how it can be improved.
You'll also be helping make sure products meet performance, regulatory, cost, timing and quality expectations.
So while your electrical and electronic engineering foundation matters, this role goes beyond the design pack.
It's about making sure the product actually works in the real world.
Chamberlain Group is a global leader in intelligent access, creating products that make homes, businesses and commercial spaces safer, smarter and easier to access.
Their products sit across garage door openers, gate operators, commercial door systems and connected smart technology.
Globally, they're established, innovative and future focused. Locally, their Somersby site gives you access to a proper product environment, with engineering, manufacturing, operations, service and commercial teams working closely together.
It's a business with global structure and investment, but a local team feel.
You'll be joining a "one team" environment where engineers are not hidden away from the product.
You'll be close to testing, manufacturing, suppliers, service feedback and the people helping bring these products to market.
You're an electrical, electronic or mechatronic engineer who enjoys product development.
You may have come from electronics, smart devices, IoT, appliances, industrial products, consumer products, manufacturing, MedTech, automation or another physical product environment.
NPD experience is the big one.
You understand product engineering is not just about the design.
It's also about testing, debugging, compliance, suppliers, manufacturing and making sure the product performs once it leaves the building.
You'll ideally bring experience across electronic or electrical product development, external design partners, suppliers, manufacturers, compliance standards and full lifecycle project work.
You don't need to come from access control.
But you do need to bring a strong technical base, a practical mindset and the ability to work across teams to get products from concept through to manufacturing.
