About Us
Children’s Ground is working to create an environment where families realize their aspirations for the next generation of children to be free from trauma and suffering, enjoy equity and safety, grow into healthy and happy adults, and have agency over their social, cultural, political, and economic lives. About The Program
The Extended Hours Program is a vital part of the Children’s Ground Approach. It operates within the Learning and Wellbeing area and recognizes that:
Extra-curricular opportunities are essential for all children and are often unavailable in First Nations communities.
Critical learning occurs outside of the traditional school day.
Community-based activities support the wellbeing of children, young people, families, and communities, and should be a normal part of community life.
Cultural learning can happen anytime—within the community, out bush, or in families—and creating space for this should be prioritized.
All children and young people deserve access to creative and cultural opportunities as they grow.
About The Job
This role involves coordinating and leading the program overall, with specific responsibilities for two funded initiatives focusing on after-hours delivery, including a youth steering group, a youth voices and film project, family nights, and a family wellbeing communications initiative.
The Extended Hours Program aims to support the wellbeing and engagement of children, young people, and families through diverse activities such as after-hours school and youth programs, weekend and school holiday events, cultural camps, family celebrations of culture and achievements, and creating safe, healing, connecting, and empowering spaces.
The goal is to celebrate children and young people, provide enriching opportunities, foster community cohesion, nurture cultural connections, strengthen identity, and support personal development, while enhancing family and community wellbeing.
