DWS is partnering with a leading investment and financial services organisation to hire a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building large-scale, event-driven systems. This role is ideal for someone with a strong financial services background, spanning areas such as investment management, wealth, markets, or trading environments, who thrives in high-volume, real-time platforms and enjoys owning services end-to-end.
You'll play a key role in designing and delivering resilient microservices that support critical financial systems operating within a regulated environment.

The role requires
* Strong, hands‐on experience designing and developing Java microservices using Spring Boot
* Proven background working in banking or core financial services environments
* Substantial experience building event‐driven architectures using Kafka
* Expertise developing RESTful APIs for complex internal and external integrations
* End‐to‐end ownership across design, build, deployment and production support
* Strong automated testing practices including unit and integration testing
* Experience tuning performance, resilience, and system observability
* Confidence contributing to technical design discussions and mentoring engineers
* Experience deploying to AWS container platforms with modern CI/CD pipelines
* Strong understanding of security, compliance, and regulated delivery standards
