The Role
Join Our Vibrant Student-Led Café Team
Are you passionate about food, education, and creating a dynamic learning environment? An exciting opportunity waits for a Café Program Assistant to be part of our student-led café at the Wheelers Hill Campus — during school terms only (school holidays off).
This unique role blends hospitality with hands-on learning, supporting students as they gain real-world experience in our Café Program. As a Café Program Assistant, you'll play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen as well as managing food orders, stock control and receiving deliveries.
You'll be rostered across five weekdays (Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm) during term time only, with flexibility based on the Café Program schedule. Most of the working hours are within the normal span of the school hours although work maybe required outside the span of school hours.

Key Duties
Supporting students with curriculum-based Learning Outcomes for the Cafe Program
Collaborating with the Café Manager to guide and evaluate student performance
Prepare food trays/trolleys for practical classes as needed
Collaborate with Café Manager for food orders and procure additional goods as necessary
Ensure proper storage of fruit, vegetables, and cold items
Participate in stock-takes and attend meetings
Offer general support during special events, such as School Open Days
Purchase of goods not included in bulk orders as required
Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety of the kitchen
Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills And Experience
Experience with Practical Food Hygiene
Previous exposure to Food preparation
The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team
Any relevant Food or Hospitality qualifications would be desirable
First Aid Certificate would be advantageous
