Role: HV Design / Primary Engineer (Melbourne or Sydney)
Our Power team delivers high‐value projects across Australasia, from traditional high‐voltage power transmission to infrastructure and industrial projects for energy sector clients. Join an established team that works on both small‐ and large‐scale projects, contributing to strategic bids and shaping the success of the Power team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the technical delivery of Primary/HV projects from feasibility through concept design, detail design and owner's engineering stages.
* Develop, mentor, and lead junior engineers and teams of engineers to undertake larger packages of work, including training and mentoring.
* Lead the primary design of high‐voltage substations and other related infrastructure.
* Collaborate with engineering and project teams to deliver timely and accurate documentation and reports.
* Provide concept and detailed design, review specifications, drawings, etc.
* Maintain current design standards as set by legislative requirements.
* Carry out quality checks and procedures.
* Draw upon technical expertise and the broader team to deliver high‐quality technical advice to our client.
* Contribute to strategic bids and tenders for future energy projects across ANZ and support cross‐business line activities.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a senior electrical engineer with solid fundamentals demonstrated through the delivery of robust and innovative power engineering projects and designs.
* Ability to lead teams and mentor junior engineers.
* Experience in substation primary engineering across HV/EHV substations (up to 500 kV ideally).
* Experience in using engineering software for design (preferred).
* Understanding of how design impacts construction.
* Organised, adaptable, and able to think outside the box.
* Well‐developed interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
* Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex issues to a range of stakeholders.
* Results‐oriented with strong technical engineering basis in either transmission, distribution, or rail traction power and managing project delivery.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
