The Company:
An award-winning residential and commercial modular construction company currently experiencing rapid growth is looking to hire a senior estimator to join their expanding estimating team.
The business has exciting growth plans in the upcoming 12 months and beyond, aiming to double its current $50m annual turnover. They are seeking a new senior estimator to be part of this strong growth trajectory.
This role is critical in ensuring that the company's projects are profitable, delivered on time, and within budget, supporting the company's reputation for excellence in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for modular home projects, including off-site manufacturing, transportation, and on-site installation.
2. Analyze architectural designs, engineering drawings, and modular construction specifications to produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
3. Collaborate with in-house design, production, and project management teams to ensure estimates reflect modular construction methods and factory efficiencies.
4. Source and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for factory-built modules and site works.
5. Prepare budgets, tender submissions, and variation estimates, considering modular construction timelines and logistics.
6. Monitor and update cost databases, including modular-specific materials, prefabrication costs, and transport logistics.
7. Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and process optimization specific to modular construction.
8. Assess and manage risks related to modular building, such as transport, cranage, and site assembly.
9. Ensure compliance with building codes, modular standards, and client specifications.
10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes tailored to modular home construction.
Role Requirements:
1. Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in the home building industry.
2. Previous experience in estimating within the modular construction industry is highly advantageous.
3. Proven time management and organizational skills.
4. Experience with advanced estimating software.
5. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
6. Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
7. Ability to learn new systems and software quickly.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
