Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Deployment Manager to manage a team of engineers. The Network Deployment Manager will manage the planning and deployment of new data centre spaces as well as the build and expansion of remote management facilities. This manager will be responsible for a growing a team and will oversee their development and growth. The successful candidate will have experience managing and mentoring people, tracking budgets, providing strategic direction and proposing technical solutions. This manager will ultimately be responsible for installing and delivering our network equipment and related infrastructures, as well as responsible for driving low voltage structured cabling across the Amazon data centre platform. To be eligible for this role you will need to hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability) Key job responsibilities - Prioritize and assign tasks to deployment engineers and project managers, coaching and creating documentation. - Manage tasks and deliverables across medium to large-size projects. - Manage projects across multiple AWS regions to ensure just in time delivery of new data centre spaces. - Manage the installation of network and cabling infrastructure in a data centre environment - Guide, train and educate staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues - Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs - Provide weekly report to project stakeholders - Coordinate team resources to support project and delivery needs, to include emergency projects, change management and maintenance window support, and potential off-hours support. - Recruit and train engineers to ensure appropriate staffing levels and host weekly staff meetings and drive compliance to Amazon performance management requiremen Basic Qualifications - Experience in people management and team development - Experience in engineering work, managing large-scale services - Experience maintaining SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting - Experience delivering complex projects with prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product - Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies installation and design including network cabling, hardware, and test methodologies Preferred Qualifications - 4 years of data center, network engineering, and/or systems engineering experience - Experience representing your team or technical area to senior management - Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements - Experience establishing successful partnerships with internal and external teams to execute tactical initiatives or equivalent - Experience managing teams who deliver on defined goals and timelines - High attention to detail including effective customer communications, with data, and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
