The Opportunity
Ethos BeathChapman is partnering with a prominent investment manager to appoint a Risk Manager within its Asset Management division. This is a pivotal Line 1 role responsible for uplifting risk maturity, embedding an enhanced Risk Management Framework, and supporting strategic initiatives across a dynamic and growing business.
This position suits a proactive, commercially minded risk professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys influencing stakeholders, improving processes, and strengthening risk culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Embed and uplift the organisation's Risk Management Framework, ensuring obligations are met and controls are effective.
* Drive the integration and implementation of new risk and compliance methodologies, standards, and procedures.
* Champion a strong risk culture across the division, providing constructive challenge and guidance.
* Build trusted relationships with business leaders, internal audit, and other key stakeholders.
* Provide high‐quality risk and regulatory advice, including breach assessments, prudential reviews, and regulatory notices.
* Identify, analyse, and communicate regulatory changes, supporting the business through implementation.
* Review business proposals and strategic initiatives to ensure risk and compliance considerations are appropriately managed.
* Oversee project adherence to risk and compliance requirements.
* Prepare clear, concise reporting for senior management, committees, and governance forums.
* Contribute subject matter expertise to steering committees and cross‐functional projects.
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Finance, Commerce, Law, Economics) or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years' experience in operational risk and/or compliance within financial services.
* Strong understanding of managed investment schemes, wholesale funds, or broader wealth/funds management.
* Deep experience working with risk frameworks, policies, and processes in complex organisations.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
* Strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and a passion for execution.
* Comfort operating in environments with ambiguity and change.
* High ethical standards and sound judgement.
