Senior Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator

Are you a seasoned HR generalist who thrives at the intersection of people, process, and payroll?
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior, hands-on HR and Payroll role within a dynamic Australian business with both Head Office and Retail operations.
Working closely with an experienced HR Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience, from attraction and onboarding through to development, engagement, and exit.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary HR contact for Retail and Head Office teams, managing day-to-day queries and the HR inbox
Oversee the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding
Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job advertising, contracts, and onboarding coordination
Maintain a strong working knowledge of Awards, Fair Work legislation, and employment compliance
Provide HR advice to managers on policies, performance management, and disciplinary matters
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure real-time updates in HRIS
Support parental leave, workers' compensation claims and compliance reporting
Assist in the delivery of strategic HR initiatives, employee engagement, and talent programs
Prepare HR reports, analyse trends and support continuous improvement initiatives
Partner closely with Retail Operations on culture and people-focused projects
Payroll Coordination
Coordinate and process fortnightly and monthly payrolls for Australia and New Zealand
Manage payroll data integrity, time & attendance systems and employee records
Handle complex payroll queries with professionalism and discretion
Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, visa requirements and privacy obligations
Manage leave tracking, third-party payments and employment verification checks
Support annual WGEA reporting
Contribute to payroll system and process improvements
About You
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a generalist HR position
Bachelor's degree in HR or Business with a focus on HR
Experience working with awards
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong multi-tasking capabilities
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Sound judgment and mature business acumen; ability to build trust
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
