Job Title:
Technical Sales Representative
Key Responsibilities:
* Consult with clients to assess their ballistic protection needs, identifying appropriate vehicle chassis and armouring technologies based on threat levels, budget, and operational requirements.
* Develop and present detailed proposals, justifying recommendations for base vehicle chassis, armouring materials (e.g. ballistic ceramic vs steel), and additional systems (e.g. emergency locking, fire suppression, or IED-resistant floor reinforcement) in clear, client-friendly language.
* Assess vehicle models (including commercial trucks, vans, or buses) for suitability, estimating conversion costs and advising on durability, performance, and protection levels.
* Recommend specialized upgrades, such as suspension systems, bullet-resistant tyres, or fuel and engine bay protection, tailored to client needs and environmental conditions.
* Negotiate pricing and contract terms with wholesale and retail clients, maximizing yield while ensuring competitive offerings based on market insights and competitor analysis.
* Liaise with armoured vehicle manufacturers to select partners with optimal cost, quality, and capability, overseeing production quality and coordinating vehicle sourcing, export, and customs documentation.
* Build and maintain relationships with global clients (government, diplomatic, NGO, and high-net-worth individuals) and manufacturing partners, including attending trade shows and exhibitions.
* Stay updated on advancements in armouring technologies, materials, and production methods, advising clients on their benefits and limitations.
* Manage logistics for vehicle transportation (land, sea, air), including engaging freight forwarders and ensuring compliance with export/import regulations.
* Identify opportunities for collaboration with Australian manufacturers for vehicle components and technologies, enhancing our armoured vehicle offerings.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years experience in armoured vehicle sales, procurement, or manufacturing, with a strong understanding of civilian armouring standards and threat protection levels.
* In-depth knowledge of modern armouring materials, technologies, and production methods, with the ability to explain cost/benefit trade-offs to clients.
* Proven experience in business development, ideally in the automotive or security industries, including lead generation and trade show participation.
* Demonstrated ability to manage vehicle procurement, supplier negotiations, and logistics for international exports/imports.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage with diverse clients and stakeholders in plain English.
* Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (preferred).
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in armoured vehicle technologies or related fields.
* Willingness to travel internationally for client meetings, trade shows, and manufacturer visits.
