VP of Product Design (Remote - Australia)

In this role, you will lead and scale the product design function, driving a unified and world‑class user experience across multiple products. You will craft and socialize the design vision, establish a robust design system, and implement AI‑assisted workflows to increase efficiency and creative output. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Brand teams, you will translate complex ideas into intuitive, user‑centered solutions. You will also mentor and grow a high‑performing design team, ensuring measurable improvements in usability, speed, and visual quality. This is a strategic position with significant impact, ideal for a leader passionate about building design excellence in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and champion the overall product design vision, aligning it with product strategy and brand direction
- Build, scale, and maintain a modern design system, including governance, documentation, and workflows for consistency across multiple products
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Product Designers and UX Writers, providing coaching, clear career paths, and feedback loops
- Integrate generative AI tools into design workflows to improve efficiency and creativity
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Brand teams to deliver intuitive, high‑quality user experiences
- Translate complex concepts into simple, user‑centered interfaces and experiences
- Track and report on success metrics, including adoption of the design system, usability improvements, and design‑to‑development cycle efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience managing product design teams at Director/Head/VP level, ideally in a high‑growth B2B software setting
- Demonstrated track record of improving product usability, visual quality, and design velocity through strategic initiatives
- Expertise in design systems, including component libraries, token systems, and tools such as Figma
- Familiarity with generative AI tools and a passion for integrating AI into design workflows
- Strong collaboration and influence skills across Product, Engineering, and Brand teams
- Data‑driven and user‑centered design mindset with strong interaction‑design skills
- Experience in B2B SaaS is highly valued; cybersecurity experience is a plus but not required
- Based on Australia's east coast (AEST/AEDT), able to work remotely or from optional offices
Preferred / Edge Skills
- Experience scaling design teams from single‑product to multi‑product platforms
- Successful implementation of AI‑assisted processes that measurably improved design quality or efficiency
- Contributions to open‑source or public design systems
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design best practices
