The RoleAs a Project Environmental Advisor within the Project Delivery Group, you will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of environmentally responsible and regulatory-compliant capital works.
You will oversee, coordinate and support the development and delivery of capital projects through identification and implementation of applicable environmental and approval requirements with support from relevant subject matter experts and work closely with internal teams and external partners to manage risk, ensure adherence to regulations, and drive sustainable outcomes.
Key responsibilities include: Monitor, administer, and report on environmental and statutory compliance across capital works projects, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and TasWater specifications.Support the integration and alignment of environmental and statutory management systems and processes across the Project Delivery Group and Delivery Framework Partners.Conduct site audits, inspections, and investigations of environmental performance, incidents, and complaints, ensuring issues are documented, reported, and resolved appropriately.Assist in securing environmental and statutory approvals and contribute to embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets and sustainability initiatives into project delivery.Foster effective relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, Delivery Partners, and regulators, to support shared compliance and performance outcomes.Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of compliance tools, systems, and capability-building initiatives to enhance environmental performance and manage regulatory risk.
For a full copy of the position description, please click HERE.What we're looking forTo succeed in this role, you will bring a strong foundation in environmental and statutory compliance, along with a collaborative mindset and a drive for sustainability and continuous improvement.
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field.Experience in delivering environmental, sustainability, and statutory compliance across infrastructure projects—ideally within the water sector or similar.
Strong understanding of (or ability to quickly learn) infrastructure lifecycle, regulatory frameworks, and environmental policy contexts.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a commitment to safety outcomes.
Current Class C Driver's Licence and willingness to travel within Tasmania, including site-based work.

The DetailsThis role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $98,340.52 - $103,803.89 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
