Playford International College is a large, diverse government secondary school in Elizabeth, northern Adelaide, with around 1,400 students. The school's cohort includes 25% receiving IESP funding, 15% identifying as Aboriginal, and 26% from non-English speaking backgrounds. As a Special Interest Music School, it attracts students from both within and outside its local zone.
Staff must be committed to improving participation, learning, and wellbeing for students experiencing disadvantage. High quality curriculum design, contemporary pedagogy, and involvement in whole-school and community activities inside and outside school hours are expected for all positions.
We are currently looking for a Leader Band B-3 - Head of Aboriginal Learners join our team!
What you will do:
* Lead and coordinate whole school initiatives and key events related to Aboriginal education and cultural responsiveness, including the development, consultation, and implementation of school-wide approaches, frameworks and practices in collaboration with the Executive Team, staff and relevant stakeholders
* Drive the whole-school embedding of Aboriginal perspectives across curriculum, pedagogy and school culture, supporting staff to implement culturally responsive teaching practices and build cultural capability across all learning areas
* Lead and coordinate meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal families, Elders, community organisations and programs (including SAASTA, STARS, Clontarf or equivalent), ensuring authentic engagement and alignment with community aspirations and school initiatives.

* Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and build the capability of teams within a complex school environment, establishing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with leaders, teachers, Aboriginal students, families/carers and members of the broader Aboriginal community to improve student engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes
* Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive practices, inclusive education principles, and contemporary approaches to Aboriginal education that support improved engagement, wellbeing and achievement outcomes.
