UCAT Question Writer role at Contour Education (Contour MedPrep). We’re looking for creative, detail-oriented writers to design accurate UCAT questions with clear explanations. This remote-friendly role offers mentorship, training, and opportunities for growth while supporting thousands of students in Australia’s UCAT preparation.

Role Description
As a UCAT Question Writer, you’ll design accurate, purposeful questions and clear explanations that help students practice core skills effectively. The role is highly team-oriented, mostly remote, with regular communication between writers, tutors, and management. You’ll contribute to high-quality resources that have tangible impact on aspiring doctors and dentists.
Responsibilities
- Question Writing – Create unique, skill-focused UCAT questions reflecting exam style, difficulty, and techniques.
- Solution Creation – Provide clear explanations that teach time-saving strategies and boost accuracy.
- Proofreading & Review – Review others’ work to maintain high clarity and quality.
- Training & Collaboration – Participate in onboarding, 1-on-1 check-ins, and weekly meetings to share feedback and improve resources.
Expected Work Hours
- Minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Flexible scheduling; option to work more or less depending on your availability.
Compensation
- $25/hour + Super
- Fixed bonuses when questions are published on our online question bank
- Bonus per question type: Verbal Reasoning ($4), Quantitative Reasoning ($3), Situational Judgement ($2)
- Additional bonuses for Narrative-Based/Data-Based questions, Syllogism-Based/Puzzles, Evaluating Arguments/Venn Diagrams, Probability (various rates)
Requirements
- Skills: Honesty and integrity; exceptional written communication; detail-oriented; organised; independent and proactive; intelligent and creative; willing to listen, learn, and lead; professionalism and accountability.
- Experience: Mandatory – Completed the UCAT. Ideal – UCAT score in 90th percentile or above; prior tutoring or content creation; studying medicine or dentistry in Australia or already graduated. Note: these are favourable but not hard requirements.
- Personal: Passionate and engaged; genuine desire to help students; long-term mindset; ability to commit to hours; sign NDA; agree to a non-compete clause.
