Workdays: Tuesday – Thursday (Wednesday until 7pm)
About the Role
The Community Engagement Officer works within a multidisciplinary team to raise awareness of headspace Northam services, strengthen community partnerships, and improve access to support diverse young people. Key responsibilities include:
* Lead and increase awareness activities in the community about our services, promoting mental health literacy and effective help‐seeking.
* Develop a community awareness plan aligned with the centre's objectives, including increasing access for young people from 'at risk' populations (e.g. LGBTQIA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander).
* Support youth participation through facilitation of Youth Reference Groups and related engagement initiatives.
* Develop and maintain partnerships with local agencies, community groups, and sector networks to obtain better outcomes for youth mental health.
* Develop and deliver training, psychoeducation, and engagement activities to build capacity among young people, families, and service providers.
About You
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
* A passion for working with young people.
* High level community engagement knowledge and skills including planning, developing information campaigns/briefings, consultation, and partnership development.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
* Developed organisational, administrative and project management skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (preferred).
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the Wheatbelt region.
* Capacity to work flexibly and outside of normal operating hours is required.
