AARNet is Australia's Academic and Research Network, founded in 1989 and renowned as the architect, builder and operator of world-class network infrastructure for research and education. This role is within AARNet's Legal team and is a full-time position with adaptable workdays and times for the right candidate. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, a solid writer, and able to support the team's lawyers across a variety of commercial contracts and matters with professionalism across customers, suppliers, and regulators.
The Role
This opportunity in AARNet's Legal team is the perfect step for a Legal Administrator looking to work in a busy team. While it is a full-time role, flexibility can be offered. The role involves working within a unique footprint spanning Telecommunications, Education/Research, and Not-for-Profit sectors, with broad and complex commercial contracts and matters guiding varied daily work. The successful candidate will be a perfectionist in written communication and have a passion for attention to detail, enjoy working in a tight-knit team, and jump in to support the team's lawyers as tasks arise. Demonstrable experience presenting and communicating professionally across customers, suppliers, and regulators is required.
Key Accountabilities
Issue standard form civil works contracts and manage issue of acceptance certificates and notices to customers and contractors and undertake related administrative work
Manage and issue heads of terms for lease agreements, liaise with and instruct external counsel in preparing lease agreements
Assist with and implement improvements to systems and processes
Draft and issue correspondence to a range of internal and external stakeholders
Assist the legal team with contract drafting and contract management responsibilities
Work with internal teams to drive the timely delivery of contract activities and workflow
Supervise junior assistants in the team
Maintain and manage contracts database
Liaise with finance, security, infrastructure development and technical teams and other business units across AARNet
Undertake compliance monitoring procedures as necessary in the fulfilment of AARNet's compliance requirements
Participate in corporate planning and training in compliance
Skills, experience & qualifications
Qualification or relevant work experience as a Paralegal or Legal/Contracts Administrator
Exceptional oral and written communication skills and experience using a range of software packages including MS Office
Good administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail, self-motivated and able to work autonomously
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders and be a good team player
Previous experience in Construction, Property or Telecommunications industry highly desirable but not essential
Previous experience working with the Content Manager/TRIM database is desirable but not essential
