About the opportunity
We are seeking a Curriculum Market Research Specialist to play a critical role in delivering qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary market research to support curriculum development at the University of Sydney. In this position, you will conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to inform curriculum and course development, ensuring offerings meet the evolving needs of students and industry. Your work will involve building a contemporary and longitudinal understanding of student preferences, behaviour and expectations across diverse degree types and study experiences.
You will provide evidence-based insights to guide curriculum design and innovation, including identifying opportunities for new or refined offerings across award and non-award courses. Working under broad direction, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders and academic teams to deliver high-quality recommendations that support strategic decision-making and enhance student experience. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of education at the University through data-driven insights and market research.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* analyse student experience and learning preferences to guide curriculum strategy and course development
* produce Political, Economic, Social and Technological (PEST) analyses to inform curriculum development planning
* undertake high-quality qualitative and quantitative market research to support strategic decisions on course offerings
* monitor and interpret education trends and competitor activity to identify risks and opportunities
* collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure research insights are timely and aligned to strategic priorities
* develop and improve reporting tools and dashboards to share insights with senior leadership.
About you
* a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
* recent experience managing market research and analysis projects in a complex organisation
* strong knowledge of higher education trends, market research principles, and competitor analysis
* expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys and focus groups
* experience in analytical report writing and presenting findings to senior stakeholders
* excellent data analysis skills and ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
