Join a high-impact transformation program within the NSW Government where you'll lead the development and implementation of finance and cost recovery systems from the ground up.
This is not your standard finance role — you'll play a critical role in setting up internal financial systems and processes, integrating with SAP, and establishing a chargeback model to support cross-departmental service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and implement internal cost allocation and chargeback frameworks using WBS and cost centre structures in SAP
* Design and manage project accounting, budget tracking, and internal invoicing systems
* Work closely with operational teams (e.g. Property, Cleaning, Facilities) to align service delivery with finance processes
* Support and streamline procurement, purchasing, and vendor payment processes
* Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and reconciliations in collaboration with internal stakeholders
* Train and upskill internal junior staff on financial processes and SAP usage
* Ensure compliance with NSW Treasury reporting and public sector financial controls
About You:
* Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, or Finance Business Partner in a government or large complex environment
* Hands-on experience with SAP, including WBS codes, cost centre reporting, and budget tracking
* Proven ability to set up or improve financial systems and internal cost recovery models
* Strong understanding of procurement and vendor management processes
* Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience across technical and non-technical teams
* Ability to mentor junior staff and simplify financial concepts for non-finance teams
Preferred:
* NSW Government or broader public sector experience
* Understanding of internal service delivery models (e.g. cleaning, property, infrastructure)
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, is confident in SAP, and wants to leave a lasting impact on how services are delivered and funded across a major NSW Government portfolio.
