Process Engineer

Full Time, Permanent, 38 hours per week

Annual Salary: $85,400 +12% super

NARACOOPA MINERAL SANDS PTY LTD mines and processes heavy mineral sand from Fraser Beach, Naracoopa, King Island, Tasmania. The company is in a growth phase and we are now seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our technical team.

The Process Engineer will play a key role in optimising plant performance, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our heavy mineral sand operations. This role supports day-to-day plant activities and long-term improvement projects to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Design and Development:

· Design and develop processes for mineral extraction and concentration, using methods like gravity and magnetic separation, flotation, and leaching.

· Develop and modify processes to improve mineral recovery and product quality, while reducing waste and costs.

· Contribute to the design, commissioning, and operational support of new processing plants and plant upgrades.

· Collaborate with management and engineers to develop processing plant specifications, equipment requirements, and control instruments to support operational processes.

Operations and Quality Control:

· Oversee processing activities and provide technical guidance to operators on production methods, process parameters, and quality control systems.

· Conduct sampling at various stages of the process for laboratory analysis and testing.

· Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions to maintain process stability.

· Ensure production targets, product specifications, and safety standards are consistently achieved.

Technical and Project Management:

· Prepare technical reports, production data analyses, budgets, and project plans.

· Conduct research and development to improve existing processes and develop new ones.

· Manage and coordinate metallurgical test programs.

Collaboration and Communication:

· Liaise with other professionals, such as geologists, mining engineers, and chemists, to improve process efficiencies.

· Communicate with management and other departments regarding production objectives.

Environmental Compliance and Safety:

· Develop and implement processes that meet environmental requirements and ensure responsible waste management.

· Ensure all process activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements, risk management standards, and company policies.

To be eligible you must:

· Have a bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., metallurgical, chemical, or process).

· Have minimum 2 years' relevant experience in the mineral processing industry.

Desired Skills Set and Attributes:

· Expertise in mineral processing techniques, including flotation, gravity separation, and magnetic separation.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex operational issues.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration.

· High level of attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.

· Ability to work in a team, manage projects, and understand both technical and commercial aspects of a project.

Salary negotiable to commensurate with relevant experience.
