Summary of Position:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with Health Care Providers (HCPs) including Primary Care Clinicians and other selected specialty clinicians, by conducting scientific exchange on Company product(s) and scientifically relevant therapeutic area topics. The MSL will communicate insights to internal Medical Affairs team and support internal collaborations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Leads efforts in recognizing, identifying, cultivating and maintaining Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) relationships in specific therapeutic areas of interest. Identifies opportunities for scientific growth in support and/or expansion of current utilization of therapies and execution of mutual interest initiatives such as medical education
- Provides fair and balanced medical education and information to HCPs through proactive communication of scientific data as well as scientific exchange of information during routine interactions
- Acquires and maintains a level of medical-scientific knowledge in an assigned therapeutic area(s) and/or disease state(s) involving clinical issues related to products; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies. Ability to critically evaluate and interpret scientific literature including its potential impact on clinical practice and medical strategy for Paratek products
- Contributes to clinical and scientific communications, publications, clinical and scientific education, advisory boards, clinical and scientific congresses, other conferences, and meetings, etc.
- Delivers high quality presentations of scientific data to HCPs in various settings, including advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other appropriate venues to enhance product and disease state knowledge
- Provides scientific and outcomes research support for Paratek projects including formulary decisions
- Compliantly shares on-label clinical insights and formulary process/status information with commercial colleagues
- Provides cross-functional scientific input and expertise
- Tactical delivery of programs according to established objectives and serves as a resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced medical-scientific information to external audiences (HCPs, etc.)
- Conducts appropriate scientific exchange on disease state and marketed products to support the Medical Strategy
- Responds to HCP specific unsolicited requests for data on Company product(s)
- Participates in medical events as identified by Paratek, aligned with Medical Affairs strategies
- Supports Medical Affairs and the Company by collecting competitive insights
- Compliantly collaborates with commercial colleagues (Regional Business Directors and Pharmaceutical Sales Specialists)
- Responsible for territory management and budget allocation
- Completes administrative and reporting requirements in a timely manner
- Adheres to all company and client policies and Standard Operating Procedures
- Must safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality by following the guidelines set forth in the Privacy and Security Rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Performs other duties as requested
Qualifications

- Advanced scientific degree (ARNP, PA, DNP, PharmD or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 2 years of MSL experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry (preferred) OR minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Previous clinical experience in a primary care setting is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of antibiotics and infectious disease is preferred
- Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Effective organizational skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Additional Information
- Technology needs: Working knowledge of virtual presentation and CRM platforms (preferably Veeva) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Travel requirements (%): Ability to travel daily is required with overnight travel < 40%
- Valid and current driver's license and current auto insurance is required
