The Position
About our Economics team
Our economics and policy team works collaboratively across RMCG's practice areas.
The team's skills in economic, financial and policy analysis are combined with our grounded expertise in specific subject matter areas: environment, water, agriculture and resource recovery.
We consult on a wide range of issues including: water pricing and regulation; financial sustainability advice; cost-benefit analysis and feasibility; water trading; business case development; optimal pricing structures for diverse industries; and developing models for various industries.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a consultant with 2-5 years professional experience to support our economics team.
Examples of work that our economists have recently undertaken
Whole-of-business long term financial plan for a local government client
Development of bespoke modelling to develop economically efficient pricing structures
Presentations to executives and boards relating to water and sewerage pricing.
Monte Carlo analysis and Real Options Analysis to support optimal decision making
Written submissions to an independent state economic regulator on behalf of a water utility
Analysis of large datasets to reach conclusions
Communication to irrigators regarding future water allocation prices.
Qualification requirement
Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance or a related discipline, with strong analytical capability.
Key selection criteria
Economic application: Apply economic and financial frameworks to pricing, policy and investment decisions.
Financial modelling: Develop quantitative models, using recognised economic and financial techniques.
Communication: Clearly present technical and analytical findings, both in writing and verbally.
Collaboration: Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Self-motivation: Work independently to deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Previous experience in consulting would be considered favourably.

Salary and Conditions
