Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the preparation of nutritionally balanced meals for the residents of the facility and maintaining specific nutritional requirements.
* Responsible for maintaining food preparation areas in a safe and hygienic environment as per the Facility's Policy and Procedures, which are consistent with Legislative requirements.
* Responsible for ensuring the Kitchen Operation adheres to the Food Safety Program.
* Responsible for training and providing direction to other members of the Kitchen team with regards to the Food Safety Program.
* Report to the Residential Care Manager and National Chef Manager, who will support you in your role.
* Responsible for engaging with residents and obtaining feedback for quality purposes.
* Assist in Aged Care Quality Audits and ensuring that kitchen documentation and audit requirements and kept up to date and compliant at all times.
Essential Requirements:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and/or equivalent or higher qualifications.
* Experience working in a commercial cooking environment such as an Aged Care Facility or Hospital will be highly regarded.
* Ability to follow, plan and develop nutritionally balanced menus in consultation with management and the dietitian.
* Experience with quality presentation and plating of foods.
* Prepare, season and cook food as directed, meeting dietary requirements where required.
* Clean and organize kitchen and equipment in adherence to hygiene and safety regulations.
* Preserve and store food items in appropriate temperature-controlled facilities.
* Demonstrates genuine desire to care for frail aged people.
* Able to effectively communicate in written and oral English.
