This role will produce and present audio news content for radio and digital platforms to tight deadlines, while complying with the highest standards of accuracy, impartiality, balance and all ABC editorial standards. The Job Prepare and present regular news bulletins for a radio schedule to very high editorial and broadcast standards. Work as a supervising producer, subbing copy and managing the workload of the team. Under limited direction, produce and edit network news content for a national audience that is accurate, timely and accessible. Respond to breaking news to ensure output needs are met. Monitor daily news output of ABC and commercial media. Write, edit and voice audio news briefings that are compliant with ABC style and editorial standards. Liaise with members of the Network Desk, foreign bureaux, state newsrooms, specialist desks and current affairs programs to deliver appropriate content for radio news bulletins. Support production of network stories as required including making calls, conducting research, and clipping-up and logging/viewing material. Contribute to daily production meetings and conference calls as required. Position Description: 30005495 JOURNALIST.pdf About You You'll have: Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent significant skills, knowledge and experience. Demonstrated advanced editorial skills and experience working in a News environment, including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise considerable independent editorial judgement under pressure. Advanced working knowledge of national and international affairs, sourcing knowledge and information from a broad range of reliable and credible sources. Considerable experience in sub-editing, planning, gathering and producing engaging and accessible news output; demonstrated advanced ability to produce clear, strong, editorial content with a high level of accuracy and in accordance with Editorial Policies and Style Guides. Excellent standard of broadcast presentation and experience in reading news bulletins. Demonstrated understanding of the law as it relates to broadcasting and publishing. Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills; proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with flexibility and initiative. Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and a willingness to perform a range of tasks over all shifts, including overnights and weekends.
