**Your new team - Curtin's School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS)**
Formed in 2017, EECMS unites Curtin's core expertise in electrical engineering, computing, physics, mathematics, and statistics to better understand and advance our data-driven world. As part of Curtin's Faculty of Science and Engineering, EECMS is one of the university's largest schools, with a rapidly expanding teaching and research portfolio. The School is at the forefront of emerging fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum Technologies, Energy Informatics, and Immersive Technologies.
**About the role**
As Business Manager, you will play a vital role in the efficient and effective management of EECMS School operations. Reporting directly to the EECMS Head of School and working closely with the School's leadership team as well as the Science and Engineering Faculty General Manager, you will be part of the EECMS School executive leadership team and work with both academics and professional staff from the various university service providers to ensure operational excellence.
In this role, you will responsible for delivering and managing the budget and implementing policies that align with both the School's and the broader University's goals. Additionally, you will ensure the smooth integration of various academic, administrative, and support services, establishing effective communication channels across multiple levels of the organisation.
The role requires a leader who understands the dynamics of the university eco-systems and can work with academics and within university policies to deliver sustainable day-to-day operations.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day business operations of the School.
- Ensure the effective delivery of services to support the School's activities by liaising and working collaboratively with University service groups and implementing School services and processes as appropriate.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and management of the School administration team, including effective recruitment processes, local induction, staff engagement, allocation of work priorities, performance reviews, and development.
- Work with the School leadership team in developing and reviewing strategic and operational plans, ensuring alignment and compliance with Faculty and University strategic priorities and policies.
- Ensure effective communication within the School and with external stakeholders.
- Provide operational support for academic activities including travel, recruitment, grant budgets.
- Develop and monitor budgets on advice from the HOS and in consultation with the University's finance function.
- Actively participate as a member of the School's executive management team and attend meetings as the Head of School's delegate as required.
- Working collaboratively with the Faculty senior administrative team and under the direction of the Faculty General Manager to contribute to whole of Faculty projects and meet Faculty strategic and operational objectives.

**Who we are looking for**
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience in business management within a complex organisation; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
**Knowledge, Experience, and Skills**:
- Substantial experience in a leadership and management role with demonstrated achievement of results through the tactical use of resources to support business needs.
- Demonstrated experience in business planning through detailed research and analysis on a range of issues and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate business improvement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and implement change.
- Demonstrated team leadership and management skills with the ability to create and maintain an effective customer focused and efficient team culture.
- A strong understanding of financial and budget management.
- Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to resolve stakeholder concerns.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence others and a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the tertiary education sector.
