Community Pharmacist/Clinical Pharmacist

We are seeking a motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our community pharmacy in Margaret River, Western Australia. The pharmacy services a regional population where pharmacists provide frontline healthcare advice for minor ailments, medication management and preventative healthcare services. This position combines community pharmacy practice, clinical service development, and research activities associated with dermatological and wound care treatments.

The role offers an opportunity to develop pharmacist-led consultation services, support expanded scope of practice initiatives, and contribute to research projects linked to the Dermagen product range (www.dermagen.net.au).

Our team of multi-disciplinary staff members are passionate about providing quality care pharmacy services and medication management to our local community, and are looking for individuals who are focused on providing holistic care to patients and developing new Pharmacy Services to offer our community.

About our Pharmacy

We use Fred Dispense and have an automatic ROWA dispense which makes dispensing really easy. We have a great supportive team, and strive to put our customers first, caring for their health and well-being needs, and providing a holistic approach to their health needs.

We are also a Compounding Pharmacy and specialise in skincare for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis, wound healing and sun-damaged skin. Areas we are looking to grow are Medschecks, Vaccinations, Diabetes Care, Weight Loss and other new pharmacy prescribing roles (Expanded Scope of Practice). (www.pharmacymr.com.au)

We also pack Meditec sachets for a small nursing home and 30-plus community patients. We have 5 regular CPOP patients. We are open 7 days a week, 8am to 6pm. We have great beaches, beautiful vineyards, a friendly community, and beautiful country setting for those of you who enjoy nature and the outdoors.

Must be a registered pharmacist with APHRA.

Current AHPRA pharmacist registration must be held at the time of application.

About the Role

This position combines community pharmacy practice with the opportunity to develop clinical services and participate in research initiatives. The pharmacist will work as a core member of the pharmacy team delivering high quality patient care while also helping develop pharmacist-led consultation services and clinical programs.

Core Responsibilities

* Dispense prescriptions accurately and safely in accordance with the Pharmacy Act and PBS requirements.
* Provide counselling on prescription and non-prescription medicines.
* Assist patients with minor ailments and medication management.
* Provide advice on wound care, dermatology and minor injuries.
* Ensure compliance with pharmacy procedures, QCPP standards and professional practice requirements.
* Maintain accurate dispensing records and document clinical interventions where appropriate.
* Assist with DAA checking and compounding when required.
* Monitor dispensary workflow and maintain safe pharmacy operations.

Professional Services & Patient Care

* Promote and deliver pharmacy professional services such as Weight Management, Urinary Tract Infection Consults, Oral Contraceptive Pill Resupply, Travel Advice, Compounding, Quit Smoking, Women's Health and Chronic Pain Management.
* Support MedsChecks and medication management services where appropriate.
* Provide consultations for minor ailments and preventative healthcare.
* Support Vaccination Programs and Health Promotion initiatives.
* Assist customers in selecting appropriate OTC treatments.
* Supervise and support pharmacy assistants and dispensary technicians.
* Assist with training new staff in OTC counselling and pharmacy procedures.
* Maintain a positive team culture and support pharmacy goals and KPI initiatives.
* Assist with implementation of pharmacy processes and procedures in accordance with QCPP and Priceline Standards.

Clinical Services Development

The role provides opportunities to participate in the development of pharmacist-led clinical services including:

* Asthma and COPD reviews
* Diabetes medication optimisation
* Dermatology and Woundcare consultations

Research & Development Activities

The pharmacy is involved in research activities relating to dermatology and wound care treatments. The pharmacist may assist with:

* Clinical evaluation of dermatological and wound care treatments
* Collection of structured clinical observations
* Participation in pharmacy-led skin health consultation programs
* Supporting documentation for Research & Development Tax Incentive projects

Professional Development

The pharmacy supports Professional Development including Expanded Scope of Practice training. Course tuition may be covered by the Pharmacy. Study is generally completed in the pharmacist's own time and travel to training centres is the pharmacist's responsibility.

Relocation Support

* Relocation allowance of up to $5,000 AUD.
* May be used for flights and removal costs. Receipts will need to be provide.
* Reimbursement provided upon submission of receipts.
* Initial accommodation may be subsidized for the first 4-12 weeks.

Qualifications

* Bachelor or Master of Pharmacy (or equivalent).
* Eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia via AHPRA.
* Interest in community healthcare, clinical pharmacy and pharmacist-led services desirable.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills, must be able to work independently, process-driven, demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities, be able to conduct research and communicate with a wide variety of people, create protocols and procedures that comply with QCPP and Industry Standards and be patient-centred/community-minded.
