Join to apply for the Business Development Manager (Hunter) role at Forbes Australia
At Forbes Australia, we don’t just tell the stories of success, we create the opportunities that fuel it. Since 2022, we've been the definitive voice of ambition, achievement, and influence, bringing together Australia’s most powerful leaders, entrepreneurs, and brands.
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager with serious commercial instincts; a smart, confident, relentless sales professional who knows how to research a market, uncover opportunities and open doors that haven’t been knocked on yet.
This is a role for someone who can build a list from scratch, make cold calls with confidence, and turn observations into opportunities. If you know how to sell value at a high level, and you’ve done it in B2B, professional services, finance, or luxury, we want to talk.
The Role:
This role is built for someone who enjoys starting from scratch; researching the market, understanding industry movements, and finding alignment between brand strategy and the Forbes audience. Your focus will be on driving new revenue through strategic cold outreach, industry observation, and senior-level selling.
You will:
- Research brands, industries, and categories to identify who is advertising, what they’re promoting, and where strategic opportunity exists across our platforms
- Build and manage a high-quality pipeline of prospects through independent lead sourcing and outreach
- Initiate cold conversations with CMOs, marketing directors, and founders, framing Forbes Australia as a strategic channel for their brand and audience goals
- Tailor proposals that leverage our media suite, spanning print, digital, branded content, social, and live events
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and proposal through to negotiation and close
- Work closely with editorial, marketing, and events teams to shape integrated solutions that deliver commercial and brand outcomes
- Stay attuned to category shifts and advertiser activity to identify new commercial angles
Who You Are
- 5–10 years in business development, partnerships, or high-level B2B sales
- A proven ability to open new accounts through cold outreach and relationship development
- Robust research instincts, you read the market, interpret trends, and craft compelling commercial angles
- Experience selling into senior decision-makers and presenting high-value solutions with credibility and polish
- Commercial sophistication, you understand the full business lifecycle, not just media or marketing
- A self-starter mindset, with a disciplined sales process and the confidence to back your thinking
Why Forbes Australia?
- A globally recognised brand that commands attention
- A premium audience of influential leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs
- An integrated product suite that allows for sophisticated, multi-platform campaigns
- An agile, quick-moving team where commercial thinking is valued and rewarded
