The Opportunity
The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for executing procurement activities according to the established Supply Chain Process related to specific product/service categories. The role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and enhance operational efficiencies.
Location: Cairns
Responsibilities include:
Assess procurement requirements by liaising with stakeholders based on estimates, market experience, purchase complexity, sole source considerations, and purchase thresholds.
Manage sourcing activities within tier 4 and support procurement for tier 3.
Create purchase request packages and comparative matrices, then review with internal stakeholders.
Negotiate with preferred suppliers against pre-determined objectives.
Issue purchase orders, award letters, or subcontract paperwork aligned with material tiers, and identify freight requirements.
Manage issues with goods/services through supplier corrective actions and contribute to the Supplier Risk Report.
Maintain and update daily all project Equipment Order Lists (EOL).
Represent Supply Chain as Procurement Authority for designated projects.
Conduct site visits with key suppliers and complete Supplier Periodic Evaluations.
Undertake benchmarking activities to ensure competitive pricing.
Achieve annual savings across sourcing activities as set by the Procurement Lead.
Qualifications and Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, or similar fields.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably Pronto or IFS.
Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain, or contractual law; CIPS qualifications are a plus.
