About the position
La Trobe University is registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) as La Trobe Registered Training Organisation (RTO 3899) providing the VET regulatory infrastructure required to offer the Certificate IV in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management.
This nationally accredited Cert IV course has been delivered in partnership with the Victorian State Government Dept, First Peoples-State Relations (FPSR) under funding contracts since 2009. The course is designed to support Aboriginal communities and individuals to gain or grow skills and knowledge in Aboriginal cultural heritage management so that they can meet their legislative obligations under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and participate effectively in the cultural heritage industry. The La Trobe RTO team works with FPSR to offer funded positions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have completed 'Past and Present – Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management Workshops' run by FPSR. The Cert IV course is delivered annually, over 9 weeks of 5-day, residential training blocks; funded accommodation and meals, and pastoral care are a significant feature of delivery. A minimum of three weeks training may be held at the La Trobe Bundoora campus with the remainder being run across regional Victoria at a range of venues.
The Program Manager will lead a Senior Educator and Senior Coordinator to manage the delivery, VET administration and FPSR contract deliverables for the Cert IV student lifecycle from applications, offers and enrolment, through to delivery/completion of training and a custom graduation ceremony and all reporting requirements including budget.
The position will report to the Archaeology Discipline Lead Academic within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. It will also have a strong link to the RTO CEO through Student Administration, for RTO compliance and quality assurance.
