HTS Constructions is looking for General Manager - Construction, with the vision and drive to lead this expansion. You'll lead a diverse team of Project Directors, Project Managers and Estimators, and be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). With overall responsibility for end-to-end performance across our construction projects, you'll need a combination of a strategic mindset and a solid background in operational experience.
As the General Manager of one of Australia's fastest growing construction companies (BRW Fast 100, 2024 - Top 5), you will be responsible for:
Responsibilities
* Operational Leadership: Promote operational excellence across all construction projects.
* Estimating & Precon: Overseeing the development and refinement of our estimating processes to enhance project profitability.
* Commercial Management: Ensure robust commercial frameworks around budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and claims resolution.
* Capability Development: Coach and develop Project Managers, support team performance and upskilling.
* Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Represent HTS at the highest levels across government, tier 1 contractors, mining, and resources sectors.
* Process Excellence: Modernise systems, reporting, WHS, and quality assurance to match enterprise-grade delivery.
What you'll bring
* 10+ years' experience in senior construction management roles, in a tier 1 or 2 contractor.
* Strong leadership skills, with a focus on team development and empowerment.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills — adaptable with various audiences from board meetings to pre-starts.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience managing $10M–$100M+ portfolios.
* A proven track record of cultural leadership and supporting underperforming teams or scaling resilient cultures.
* Natural ability to inspire, engage, and lead through influence across multidisciplinary teams.
You will have:
* Ability to travel to site as required.
* Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or a similar discipline.
