Job Overview

Position: Assistant Manager at Novotel Surfers Paradise

Salary: $75,915 per year + Super (HIGA Mgr Buyout)

Location: Novotel Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast QLD. The hotel features 408 rooms, multiple dining options, a heated outdoor pool, spa, tennis court, basketball/netball court, gym, and six function rooms with a capacity of up to 500 attendees.

About the Role

Are you a natural leader who thrives in a fast‐paced environment? We're looking for a confident and proactive Assistant Manager to support daily operations and uphold high standards.

As Assistant Manager you'll be the go‐to person for guests and staff during your shift, overseeing hotel operations, resolving issues, and ensuring every guest leaves with a smile.

Key Responsibilities

* Coach, train, and develop the night team to deliver a warm and friendly service consistently for all guests.
* Provide hands‐on support to staff and foster a positive team culture, working alongside the team checking in and out guests when required.
* Collaborate closely with Front Office Leadership team to control front office wage costs and maximize revenue opportunities.
* Proactively manage guest engagement & feedback with warm hospitality and the utmost professionalism.
* Manage emergency situations and act as the senior decision‐maker on duty.
* Maintain accurate reports and handovers between shifts.
* Monitor the safety and security of colleagues, guests, visitors, and hotel property.
* Communicate openly with the team, ensuring regular briefings to share key information and handovers between reception and night audit teams.

Requirements

* Previous experience as a Hotel Assistant Manager in a 200+ room hotel with multiple outlets.
* A hands‐on and approachable management style.
* Experience with OPERA CLOUD, MICROS, PurchasePlus, TrustYou, and Ready Workforce desirable.
* A calm, confident presence under pressure with excellent communication skills.
* A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.
* Ability to assist guests with concerns, understanding of TrustYou and responding to comments desirable.
* Ability to motivate, train, and lead a diverse, guest‐focused team.
* Proven ability to upsell, drive loyalty sign‐ups, and influence others to do so.
* Excellent communication skills and a high standard of grooming & presentation.
* Hold a current RSA, First Aid Certificate & CPR.
* Flexibility to work across a 7‐day working environment including weekends and public holidays.
* Valid work rights for Australia.
