About the role
We are excited to announce the opportunity to join our team as a Designer / Drafter with an immediate start. As a Designer / Drafter specialising in Aluminium Fabrication, you will be an integral part of our design team. Your role will involve creating detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings for a range of aluminium components and products. Collaborating closely with our operations team, project managers, marketing and our fabrication experts, you will ensure the seamless transition from design to fabrication. You will work across the architectural industry and drawing fencing, balustrading, staircases and facades.
Responsibilities
* SolidWorks Design: Utilise SolidWorks software to develop precise 3D models and 2D drawings for aluminium fabrication projects.
* Fabrication Collaboration: Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to understand materials, techniques, and project requirements.
* Welding Considerations: Incorporate welding considerations into designs, ensuring the integrity and strength of welded joints.
* Detailing Excellence: Create detailed and accurate drawings that adhere to industry standards, optimising for efficient fabrication processes.
* Material Specifications: Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure accurate material specifications are reflected in designs.
* Revision Control: Maintain accurate documentation and revisions to reflect changes and improvements accurately.
* Quality Assurance: Perform thorough quality checks on designs to identify and address any issues before fabrication.
* Relationships: Develop professional relationships with existing/new customers and key stakeholders.
Skills and experience
* Proficient in 2D and 3D modelling in SolidWorks with knowledge of drafting techniques and software functionalities within the metal fabrication or similar industry.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
* Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
Desirable skills but not essential
* CNC operating/programming experience.
* SolidWorks Camworks/Simulation.
* VFX animation/rendering experience in Blender or similar.
