The Trades Assistant has a critical role at STW, providing support across the production line to the team.
They will also liaise with the logistics team around inbound stock and forklift use. The Trades Assistant/Metal Worker supports and helps our trades team by completing general tasks on their behalf.
Their duties include preparing materials for production and manufacturing, general labouring, and completing basic trade tasks. This role involves general duties, such as picking components for fabrication, working with blasters, preparing powder coating (sanding and grinding), assembling final products, doing forklift support work, and cleaning.
The ideal candidate should have an existing mechanical background and be eager to learn and enthusiastic about developing metalworking and steel fabrication skills, especially about agricultural wheels.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
1. Assist tradespeople with their daily tasks.
2. Complete general labouring and operate plant machinery.
3. Ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
4. Use hand and power tools to assemble final products.
5. Load and unload materials and equipment for metalworking and manufacturing processes.
6. Operate all mobile plant and lifting equipment as and when required.
7. Keep workshop area clear, neat and tidy.
8. Work collaboratively with the STW team.
Skills & Experience
1. Trade assistant experience.
2. A mechanical mindset or previous mechanical experience is preferred for this role.
3. Demonstrated ability to work in both imperial and metric measurements.
4. Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings.
5. A positive, energetic attitude to work within a great company culture.
6. Previous forklift experience with at least 2 years holding High Risk licence - Forklift.
7. Living locally in Armadale, WA 6112 or having your own transport.
8. Experience working alongside tradespeople such as Metal Fabricators, Boilermakers/Welders, Machinists and Powder Coaters.
Eligibility:
* Full medical clearance, fit and healthy.
* Valid Forklift Licence.
* 2 years of experience in a similar role.
* Based already in Perth, WA.
* Have the right to work in Australia.
* No visa sponsorship eligibility for this role.
