Overview

Corpus Christi Primary School in Waratah is seeking a temporary part‐time (0.2 FTE) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher to join the team for the remainder of the year.

Position Description

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher focuses on supporting students and school communities in curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning and wellbeing. The role shares responsibility with all staff for the Catholic identity and mission of the school. The teacher will promote the Diocese of Maitland‐Newcastle's Reconciliation Action Plan, liaise with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and promote Indigenous perspectives within the school.

The teacher is specifically involved in the formation and implementation of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, targeting improved educational outcomes and supporting pathways within and beyond the school setting.

The role reports to the Principal and works closely with classroom teachers, curriculum teams, wellbeing teams, ministry teams and learning support teams. At the discretion of the Principal, duties may vary according to school needs.

Experience & Criteria

* Clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic Education, actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture (Primary teachers and Teachers of Religion must also be Catholic).
* Ability to plan and prepare contemporary, compliant teaching programs and assessments that meet diverse needs and learning styles, encouraging attainment of potential.
* Effective use of assessment and school data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes, with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community to establish partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.
* Innovative and agile mindset supporting continuous improvement.
* Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Qualifications

* Four‐year trained teacher qualifications.
* Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification; submission of corroborated acknowledgment is welcomed.
* Active NESA Accreditation.
* Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* Completion of anaphylaxis training.
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
* Current unrestricted Class C Driver's Licence.
* Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy (Category B or D).

Conditions of Employment

Salary is in accordance with the New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2025.
